Description - وصف

The commercial market is located on the outskirts of Sidon Al-Balad. It was rehabilitated thanks to concerted efforts, especially those of Sidon Municipality. The rehabilitation process aimed to bring about a qualitative leap that attracts tourists from all over the world, to become a shrine for the people of Lebanon, the neighboring villages and the capital, Beirut, through the splendor of work and commercial establishments.

This work was carried out by the Council for Development and Reconstruction and the office of the consultant, Engineer Abdul Wahed Shehab, to embody this dream by implementing “Danesh Trading and Contracting Company” after converting the aerial electrical network to a ground network, adopting solar lighting, and transforming asphalt roads into basalt and granite roads. Afforestation and planting, securing seating places and waste baskets, placing traffic lights, and setting up barriers to prevent the passage of cars to secure large areas for pedestrians.

The historical markets of Sidon have regained their role after being rehabilitated and transformed into a point of attraction for visitors, making it a model tourist city that attracts visitors and shoppers through the rehabilitation of the streets of: Riad El Solh, Awqaf, Fakhr El Din, and Bishop Salim Ghazal.

The commercial market is a point of convergence between the historical era of Sidon Al-Balad and the successive eras that followed, first formed by this market and with it the branches of Archbishop Ghazal Street to Al-Awqaf Street, in which the squares were transformed into heritage and religious festivals and children’s festivals held throughout the year, after the rehabilitation of the roads transformed the streets for pedestrians without Cars are what enables tourists and city-goers to easily purchase their needs. These markets are famous for taking their name from the Islamic and Christian religious endowments, and the spread of shops of clothes and shoes, to add to the gold shops their special luster.
